Orchid Show

Here are some more photos I took at the Missouri Botanical Garden's orchid show. I love how the theme overlaps Fiery Pool: The Maya and the Mythic Sea exhibition currently on view at the St. Louis Art Museum. My favorite thing about the orchid show were the wonderful figurative topiary people and their elaborate headdresses based on pre-Columbian art. Those figures were the main reason I went to draw from the orchid show in the first place, so I thought I'd share them here.

Art of the Week: Zapotec Mask

I created more ACEOs at the Missouri Botanical Garden's orchid show. This drawing is of a replica of a Zapotec mask accent (on the right). The 2011 orchid show has a Mayan theme.
