Art Saint Louis Kickstarter Campaign

Please show your support for Art Saint Louis by promoting and responding to their Kickstarter campaign call for funds to finish construction on their new location.  Art Saint Louis is an integral part of the St. Louis art community.  They have enabled many artists to find their start in showing their work publicly, including myself when juried into From Black to White in 2002.  They create opportunities for both newly emerging and established artists, and even those who are making work as commentary that isn't as commercially viable.  They provide valuable networking opportunities and are engaged in outreach in the community.  Please consider contributing to their Kickstarter campaign.

Scavenger Hunt Update & Top Gear show

The Scavenger Hunt is coming along well, and I've recruited 42 artists & venues to participate so far.  Only 8 left to go...  Despite the fact that this is very last minute for me, everything is coming along well and it has been a huge learning experience.  I am grateful that so many artists have been so supportive.

I will be posting a cheat sheet of participants to the scavenger hunt blog once I have all the slots filled or after the Wednesday registration deadline passes, so check back later Thursday for the list of participants and checklist.

I do also have art in another show opening this week at Third Degree Glass, though unfortunately with the open studios kickoff party and me doing the big scavenger hunt project, I doubt I will be able to attend that reception, but I hope to manage to get there late.  Please feel free to drop by and check it out.

Art of the Week: Scavenger Hunt!!!

I am gearing up for my biggest Open Studios project ever!  I am working on a massive Scavenger Hunt between artists' studios, and have assumed over 100 different identities for participating artists to choose from.  I'll post more information as the event nears (just one week away).

Here's a link to the new blog I created for the project:

Art of the Week: Sugar Coated

I finally got around to photographing more new work, so here's Sugar Coated, a triptych incorporating simply candy powder and glue on stretched canvases.  The three panels measure 12" x 12" each and show how the powdered candy (which came in orange, red-pink, light green, green, light blue and darker blue) blend to gray.  The really gray panel is very very heavy impasto.

In other news, I am gearing up for open studios and am thrilled to be having such a busy summer with several shows coming up, including two opening this week which I will announce here in the next day or so once I learn of all the details.

New Visions Pho-rest

I'm glad I was able to go to Columbia to see the photography project with Art in the Park.  It was awesome to see my Residue piece printed on such a large scale and hanging among so many great views of Boone County.  I also reconnected with a lot of local and regional artists I have met through various organizations, which was nice.
